Author Biography

Axel Howarth Goodbody, University of Bath

Axel Goodbody (Ecozon@ Associate Editor) is Professor of German and European Culture at the University of Bath. He studied German and French at Trinity College, Dublin. After teaching English language and culture as Lektor at the University of Kiel from 1973 to 1976, he stayed on in Germany to complete his doctorate on German nature poetry (Romantic and 20th-century). Since 1983 he has lectured at the University of Bath, UK. His main research interests are modern and contemporary German environmental literature and ecocritical theory, and he is currently engaged in projects on climate fiction, poetry of the Anthropocene, and the discursive construction of climate scepticism. He is editor of book series 'Nature, Literature and Culture' (Rodopi) and 'New Studies in European Cinema' (Lang). He was President of EASLCE from 2004 to 2006.
