Author Biography

Gala Arias Rubio, Universidad Autonóma de Madrid

Gala Arias Rubio is assistant professor and holds a PhD in curriculum greening in Humanities degrees at University and teaches at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Spain. She has worked as a technical and literary translator from Russian, Polish, and English and she is the manager of a collection of classics of Slavonic literature at Akal Publishing house since 2005. Her current research areas of interest include speculative fiction and ecocriticism, ecotranslation and the relation between art and ecology.

Eco-activist and trainer in the areas of sustainable consumption, she is an active member of the environmental associations Ecologistas en Acción and GRAMA.

She participates in the Spanish research group on ecocriticism, GIECO since 2019, and is also a professional member of ASETRAD, the Spanish Association of Translators, Proofreaders and Interpreters. Currently she is the managing editor of the journal Ecozon@: European Journal of Literature, Culture and Environment and participates as a member of the researching team of the project “Angels of the ecosystem?” (GV/2020/029) and in the research group of mythcriticism Aglaya (http://acisgalatea.com/).
