Author Biographies

Carmen Flys Junquera, University of Alcala

Dr. Carmen Flys-Junquera is an Honorary Professor of the Instituto Franklin, having retired as an Associate Professor of American Literature in the Dept. of Modern Philology and member of the Franklin Research Institute for North American Studies, both at the University of Alcalá (Madrid, Spain). She has co-edited the books El Poder Hispano (1994), El Nuevo Horizonte: España/Estados Unidos (2001), Family Reflections: Representing the Contemporary American Family in the Arts (2007), Cultural Landscapes: Heritage and Conservation (2010), Ecocríticas. Literatura y medio ambiente (2010), Sense of Place: Transatlantic Perspectives (2016) and Visualizando el cambio: Humanidades ambientales (2020). She was the Executive Director of the journal REDEN: Revista Española de Estudios Nortamericanos from 1999-2002. She has also co-edited the thematic issues on ecocriticism of the journal Nerter no. 15 (2010) and of the Revista Canaria de Estudios Ingleses (no. 64. April 2012). She was the President of EASLCE (European Association for the Study of Literature, Culture and Environment) from 2010-2012 founded and coordinated until her retirement the only registered research group in ecocriticism in Spain: GIECO (www.gieco.es). She has published over 50 articles dealing with contemporary American ethnic literature, particularly Latino, African American and Native American as well as contemporary Spanish fiction, focussing on ecocriticism, sense of place, ecofeminism, environmental justice, border issues, mestizaje, and the subversion of the dominant cultural ethos in popular genres. Currently she is the Editor-in-Chief of Ecozon@. European Journal of Literature, Culture and Environment.

Axel H. Goodbody

Axel Goodbody (Ecozon@ Associate Editor) is Professor Emeritus of German and European Culture at the University of Bath, and a Visiting Research Fellow at the Centre of Environmental Humanities, Bath Spa University. He studied German and French at Trinity College, Dublin, and taught English language and culture as Lektor at the University of Kiel (Germany), where he completed a doctorate on German nature poetry (Romantic and 20th-century). He taught at the University of Bath, UK from 1983 to 2017. His main research interests are environmental discourses (including climate scepticism), ecocritical theory, climate change fiction, narratives of energy, and modern and contemporary German environmental fiction and poetry. He is Associate Editor of Ecozon@ and edits the Brill/ Rodopi book series 'Nature, Culture and Literature'. He was a founding member of EASLCE and its first President from 2004 to 2006.
