Resumen

      Las obras Nimbus presentan un momento de presencia transitorio en una ubicación específica. Se pueden interpretar como una señal de pérdida o conversión, o simplemente como un fragmento de una pintura clásica. La gente siempre ha tenido una conexión metafísica fuerte con las nubes, y a través del tiempo se han proyectado en ellas muchas ideas. Smilde se interesa por el aspecto temporal de la obra. Está ahí unos segundos antes de desaparecer de nuevo. El aspecto físico es muy importante pero al final la obra sólo existe como una fotografía. La foto funciona como un documento de algo que ocurrió en un lugar concreto y que ahora ha desaparecido.

Biografía del autor/a

Berndnaut Smilde

Smilde’s work consists of installations, sculptures and photography. He explores the physical de-
construction and re-construction of materials; light, space, atmosphere and experience in relation to his architectural environment, creating a new moment between the realms of reality and the temporal. Smilde holds an MA from the Frank Mohr Institute, Groningen. Awards include a starter stipend from The Netherlands Foundation for Visual Arts, Design and Architecture. He was a resident artist at the Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin 2008 and Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, Colorado in 2015 and FORM, Perth in 2016. Smilde's work resides in both the Saatchi and the Smithsonian collections among others. Smilde has been written about extensively in art publications; additionally his Nimbus series was recognised by TIME Magazine as one of the "Top Ten Inventions of 2012".
