Author Biography

Bénédicte Meillon, University of Perpignan, France

Bénédicte Meillon is Associate Professor of English Studies at the University of Perpignan Via Domitia, where she has founded the Perpignan ecopoetics, ecocriticism, and ecoanthropology research workshop as well as the https://ecopoetique.hypotheses.org/ website. She has written papers on the ecopoetics of Barbara Kingsolver, Annie Proulx, Linda Hogan, Ron Rash, and Ann Pancake. Some of her other work has led her to publish articles on literary works by Paul Auster, Russel Banks, and Roald Dahl. Her research explores ecopoetics of reenchantment, focusing mostly on magical realism, mythopoeia, and ecofeminism, and paying close attention to the intra-actions between naturecultures and the texture of ecopoetic language itself. She has co-edited a special issue in French of Crossways Journal, with Margot Lauwers, Lieux d’enchantement: approches écocritiques et écopoét(h)iques des liens entre humains et non-humains, (2018), and has edited Dwellings of Enchantment: Writing and Reenchanting the Earth, (2020), published by Rowman & Littlefield. She is currently writing a monograph titled Ecopoetics of Reenchantment and Liminal Realism, and co-editing two cross-disciplinary issues of Textes & Contextes dealing with the Reenchantment of Urban Wildness (with Rachel Bouvet and Marie-Pierre Ramouche, and with Sylvain Rode and Hélène Schmutz) .
