Ileana Nachescu, Department of Women's and Gender Studies, Rutgers University

Originally from Romania, Ileana Nachescu is Associate Teaching Professor with the Department of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Rutgers University. She is the author of The National Alliance of Black Feminists: A History (University of Illinois Press, 2025). She is currently at work on a memoir of growing up in socialist Romania and an environmental history documenting the destructive effects of neoliberal capitalism and environmental racism on Europe’s last old-growth forest and the people living near it.
