Esther Rey teaches at the Faculty of Philology (Universidad Complutense de Madrid), where she has researched the works of various contemporary Anglo-Saxon women writers, focusing on the narratives of Anglo-Irish novelist and essayist Elizabeth Bowen, Canadian novelist and poet Margaret Atwood, as well as famous primatologists, like Diane Fossey and Jane Goodall. After publishing articles on ecofeminism in some academic journals -Canadaria (Revista Canaria de Estudios Canadienses), NERTER and RCEI (Revista Canaria de Estudios Ingleses)-, she has contributed with essays on feminist ecocriticism to the following edited volumes: Ecocríticas. Cultura, Literatura y Medioambiente (2010), Glocal Ireland: Current Perspectives on Literature and the Visual Arts (2011), Realidad y Simbología de la Montaña (2012) and Ecofeminismo/s: Mujeres y Naturaleza (2013). Currently in the press is her contribution to the forthcoming volume of the project CLYMA (Universidad de Alcalá/Instituto Franklin). Member of GIECO (Grupo de Investigación en Ecocrítica), her current research centres on women’s studies, education and ecofeminism.
