This essay reviews Shiloh Krupar's Hot Spotter’s Report: Military Fables of Toxic Waste (University of Minnesota Press, 2013) and Jacob Darwin Hamblin's Arming Mother Nature: The Birth of Catastrophic Environmentalism (Oxford University Press, 2013).
