From Ecocriticism to Environmental Humanities: A Brief Overview of Publications in Spain

Abstract

      This review essay focuses on an overview of relevant publications regarding ecocriticism, and its corollary, the environmental humanities, with a specific focus on Spain, through three main publications: Ecocríticas. Literatura y medio ambiente (2010); Visiones ecocri?ticas del mar en la literatura (2016); and Humanidades ambientales: pensamiento, arte y relatos para el siglo de la gran prueba (2018). This essay also mentions other relevant volumes and monographic issues published in Spain in the last ten years. The purpose of this essay is to give the reader a general view of the work done within the fields of ecocriticism and the environmental humanities in Spain in the last decade.

Author Biography

Beatriz Lindo, Universidad de Alcalá de Henares

Beatriz Lindo is Ph.D student in the American Studies Program at the Franklin Institute-Uah, under the supervision of Carmen Lydia Flys Junquera. Her dissertation focuses on an analisys of the Native American author Linda Hogan’s work from the prespective of magical realism and ecofeminism. She is a member of the research group GIECO-Franklin Institute (UAH), and a member of the editorial board at Ecozon@: European Journal of Literature, Culture and Environment
