Author Biography

Mònica Tomàs White, Rutgers University

Mònica Tomàs is a doctoral candidate in Comparative Literature at Rutgers University. Her dissertation argues literature can spark a “cosmopolitical imagination”—one in which both diverse human and nonhuman entities are conceived of as political stakeholders to whom care is due—through strategies such as nonhuman narrators; narrative genre; figurative language; and especially the political action of reading with others.
