Isabel Maria Fernandes Alves, University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD)

Isabel Maria Fernandes Alves is Assistant Professor of Anglo-American Studies at the Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (Portugal). She holds a Ph. D. on American Literature and for the past few years has been studying the relationship between literature and environment. She has published essays on authors such as Willa Cather, Sarah Orne Jewett, Henry David Thoreau, Ruth Suckow, Barbara Kingsolver, Jamaica Kincaid, and Mary Oliver, among others. Her research interests include ecocriticism, nature writing and environmental humanities. She is a member of CEAUL (Centre for Anglo-American studies of the University of Lisbon), of ASLE and EASLCE.
