Sheroanawe Hakihiiwe, Artist

Sheroanawe Hakihiiwe is a Yanomami artist who lives and works in the village of Mahekoto-Theri (Platanal, Alto Orinoco, Venezuela). His work is focused on transmitting the knowledge, symbols, and memories of his community. His artworks are part of numerous collections around the world, including the Museo delle Civiltà (Rome, IT), Banco de la República (Bogotá, CO), Colección Banco de España (Madrid, ES), Centre Pompidou (Paris, FR), the Guggenheim Museum and the MoMA (New York, US), the British Museum (London, EN), Museu de Arte de São Paulo (MASP – São Paulo, BR), the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (Madrid, ES), the Civitella Ranieri Foundation (Umbira, IT), Art Gallery of New South Wales (Sidney, AU), and the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain (Paris, FR). His works are also held in the Library of Congress (Washington, US), Colección Mercantil (Caracas, VE), and in private collections, such as the Patricia Phelps de Cisneros Collection, Kadist Foundation, Maldonado Collection, Cisneros-Fontanals Collection, Hoschschild Correa Collection, Catherine Petitgas Collection, and Il Posto Collection.
