Michael O'Krent, Harvard University

Michael O'Krent is a PhD candidate in Comparative Literature at Harvard University and a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of World Languages and Literatures at Boston University. His research interests include Chinese science fiction, environmental humanities, and videogame studies. His first publication on the relationship between ecofeminist discourse and changing conceptions of media in the video game Horizon Zero Dawn appeared in the Journal of World Literature in 2021. His dissertation examines locates science fiction in Chinese literary history and argues that its prevalence today indicates that the nature of Chinese modernity remains a deeply unsettled question.
