Justin T. Noetzel is an Instructor in the English Department at Saint Louis University, where he teaches medieval literature, fantasy, science fiction, and composition. His research interests include manuscripts, monster studies, ecocriticism, and landscape theory, and he has presented the results of his research in national and international conferences on topics including Anglo-Saxon saints’ lives, Viking-age Iceland, Middle English prophecy, Irish travel writing and fairy tales, and British fantasy. His has published work in Mythlore, Newfound: An Inquiry of Place, and the Ashgate Encyclopedia of Literary and Cinematic Monsters, and his forthcoming work includes entries in edited collection on J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and in a collection on environments in science fiction literature and film. Currently, he is completing a book-length project on the literature, history, archeology, and environment of the English Fens.
