A series of poems and images inspired by a week spent in the province of Teruel, in the Spanish autonomous community of Aragon, for the 53rd Practical Geology Course run by the Summer University of Teruel. The syllable structure of the English haikus seeks to mirror the rigid geometry of crystals embedded in their matrix. Preserving this structure in Spanish without significantly changing their meaning proved an insurmountable challenge and, as such, the translations are free.
